About Faresmaathodaa Airport
Faresmaathodaa Airport is a domestic airport serving Faresmaathodaa island and the southern part of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in the Maldives. It was inaugurated on 15 March 2023 and is the fourth airport in Huvadhu Atoll, improving air connectivity for communities in the deep south of the country.
The airport is built on a reclaimed area of about 19.9 hectares that links small islands in the lagoon near Faresmaathodaa. It has a 1,200-metre runway with navigation lighting for night operations and a passenger terminal designed for around 150 passengers, with a café, VIP lounge and garden.
Faresmaathodaa island lies roughly 100 metres away and is connected to the airport by an 800-metre causeway, making it easy to continue to the island by road.
As a domestic gateway, the airport links the atoll with Malé and other domestic destinations in the Maldives.
