About Kooddoo Airport
Kooddoo Airport is a domestic airport located on Kooddoo Island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, in the southern Maldives. It was inaugurated in September 2012 and upgraded in 2017 with a longer Code C runway capable of handling Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft as well as private jets.
The airport functions as the main air gateway for the atoll's resorts, including Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort on the same island, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, and The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi and Dhigurah. Maldivian operates scheduled domestic flights to and from Velana International Airport, with a flying time of around 55 minutes.
Kooddoo is situated about 383 kilometres south of Malé and is linked by causeway to the atoll capital Vilingili and the neighbouring island of Raaverrehaa. Travelers typically continue their journey from the airport by resort-arranged speedboat or local boat transfer.
Although the terminal is small, it offers practical facilities such as a café and bistro, an ATM, an arrivals lounge and VIP lounge access, making it a straightforward gateway for visitors travelling to the deep south of the Maldives.
