About Gan International Airport
Gan International Airport is the main international gateway serving Addu Atoll and the southern Maldives. Originally built by the British as a Royal Air Force staging post in the 1940s, the airfield was handed over to the Maldivian government in 1976 and has since grown into a key aviation hub for the region.
The airport began international operations in 2007 and has been progressively upgraded, including a modern passenger terminal, an extended runway, and improved navigational equipment.
