Žilina-Dolný Hričov Airport is a small public international airport serving Žilina and the wider northwest Slovakia region. Alongside scheduled and charter traffic, it supports business and private flights, flight training, sport flying, air ambulance services and Slovak Army operations.
Situated near the village of Dolný Hričov, roughly 15 km west of Žilina city centre, the airport was expanded with a modern passenger terminal opened in 2005. Regular Prague–Žilina services resumed the same year, restoring scheduled connections to the Czech capital.
The airport sits close to the D1 motorway, which passes about 1 km away and provides a direct road link to Žilina. Travelers can also reach the city by bus or train, or continue by taxi, private transfer, car rental and pre-arranged group transport.
Passenger facilities include free parking about 50 metres from the terminal, airport lounges for VIP guests, refreshments and catering, plus flight ticket and travel-related services. The compact terminal keeps walking distances short, making it a convenient regional gateway for northwest Slovakia.
