Türkmenabat International Airport is the main international airport serving Türkmenabat and the eastern Lebap region of Turkmenistan. The modern terminal complex opened in February 2018, replacing older airport facilities and giving the region a gateway for domestic and international flights.
Located a short distance from the city centre, the star-shaped passenger terminal is divided into two wings for domestic and international travelers and can handle around 500 passengers per hour. The terminal's eight-pointed star design, inspired by the star of Oguz Khan, earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The airport sits at the intersection of air routes between CIS countries, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas, supporting both passenger and cargo traffic and connecting Türkmenabat with Ashgabat and other destinations.
Passengers have access to cafeterias, a duty-free shop, a CIP lounge, ATMs, baggage storage and an on-site hotel, while the city is reachable by taxi and road transport. The complex also includes a 55-metre air traffic control tower and cargo facilities.
