Sesriem Airport (SZM)

Sesriem Airport is a small airstrip near the settlement of Sesriem, serving as the main air gateway to Sossusvlei and the Namib-Naukluft National Park in southern Namibia. The airport is used primarily by safari travelers and provides scheduled, charter and scenic flight access to one of the country's most famous desert landscapes.

The airport has a single gravel runway and a compact passenger area rather than a large terminal complex. Scheduled flights operated by FlyNamibia connect Sesriem with Windhoek in around 50 minutes, while scenic and charter flights use the airstrip to reach lodges and dune viewpoints across the region.

Located about 5 km from Sesriem village and the entrance gate to Sossusvlei, the airport sits close to the accommodation, fuel and dining options that serve national park visitors. Sesriem is roughly 360 km from Windhoek by road, and the dunes of Sossusvlei lie about 60 km beyond the park gate.

Facilities at the airstrip itself are basic, so most travelers combine their flight with a pre-arranged lodge transfer or rental vehicle. From Sesriem, visitors can continue to Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, Sesriem Canyon and other highlights of the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
