About Gimpo International Airport

Gimpo International Airport is the main airport for domestic air travel in and out of Seoul and one of the most convenient gateways to the South Korean capital. Located in Gangseo-gu in western Seoul, it sits about 15 km from the city centre and primarily serves flights within South Korea, including busy routes to Jeju and Busan, alongside a smaller network of international services to Japan, China and Taiwan.

Opened in 1939, Gimpo served as South Korea's principal international gateway for decades before Incheon International Airport took over most long-haul traffic in 2001. Today it focuses on domestic and short-haul regional routes, operating two passenger terminals: a larger Domestic Terminal and a smaller International Terminal, which are connected by a free shuttle bus and a covered walkway.

The airport is directly linked to Seoul by the AREX Airport Railroad and Seoul Subway Lines 5 and 9, with rail connections reaching central districts in around 20–30 minutes. Limousine buses, taxis, private transfers and rental cars provide further options for continuing to the city centre and surrounding areas.

With compact terminals, restaurants, cafés, shops, lounges, free Wi-Fi and other passenger services, Gimpo offers a straightforward travel experience and serves as a key gateway for visitors arriving in Seoul and for travellers connecting to destinations across South Korea.
