Omega Airport (OMG)

Omega Airport is a former military airfield serving the village of Omega in the Kavango East Region of north-eastern Namibia. Established as a military base during the South African Defence Force era, the airport now functions mainly as a remote general aviation and emergency access point rather than a commercial passenger gateway.

The airfield sits in the western Caprivi area between Rundu to the west and Katima Mulilo to the east, close to the Okavango River and the Angola border. It has a single asphalt runway, 07/25, approximately 1,694 metres long, and an elevation of about 1,020 metres.

Omega is roughly 270 km by road east of Rundu, the nearest major town, and road links are limited. Access is generally by private vehicle or pre-arranged transfer, as there are no scheduled commercial passenger services.

Because passenger facilities are minimal, travelers using Omega Airport should plan ahead and confirm all flight, security and ground transport arrangements with their operator in advance.
