M. R. Štefánik Airport is the largest international airport in Slovakia and the main gateway to Bratislava. It is located about 9 km from the city centre in the Bratislava-Ružinov district. Regular air traffic operations began in 1951, and in 2025 the airport handled more than 2.4 million passengers.
The passenger terminal consists of a main terminal (Terminal A), Terminal B for non-Schengen arrivals and departures, and a General Aviation Terminal for private, business and VIP flights. Check-in is handled at 29 desks on the ground floor, and the departure area has 13 gates, eight in the Schengen zone and five in the non-Schengen zone.
The airport lies in the eastern part of Bratislava with direct access to the D1 motorway bypass. Bus 61 connects the terminal with the city centre and Bratislava Main Railway Station, while the airport's official partner taxi service and private transfers provide further onward travel options.
