About Kinmen Airport
Kinmen Airport, also known as Shangyi Airport, is the main airport serving Kinmen County and connects the island with destinations across Taiwan. Originally built in 1949 and expanded in 2013, it operates a single passenger terminal and a runway of about 3,000 metres that can handle aircraft such as the A321 and MD-90.
Located in Jinhu Township about 7 km east of Jincheng, the island's main town, the airport serves domestic routes to Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Magong. It functions as a practical gateway for both residents and visitors traveling to Kinmen's towns, coastal villages, and heritage sites.
Travelers can reach Jincheng, Shanwai, and Shuitou Port by local bus, taxi, rental car, or scooter. Buses 1A, 3, and Red Line 1 connect the airport with Jincheng and Shanwai, while a taxi to downtown Jincheng typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
