Taitung Airport is the main airport serving Taitung City and the southeastern coast of Taiwan. It is a civil-military joint-use facility also known as Fong Nien Airport. The airport was officially established in 1981 and is located in the Fengnian area of Taitung City.
The airport operates a single terminal and connects Taitung with Taipei Songshan Airport through Mandarin Airlines and Uni Air, while Daily Air provides short flights to the offshore islands of Lanyu (Orchid Island) and Lyudao (Green Island). Most scheduled traffic is domestic.
Located about 4–5 km from central Taitung, the airport is reachable by taxi, bus, car rental, and private transfers. It serves as a convenient gateway for travelers heading to the East Coast, Chihpen hot springs, and nearby offshore islands.
