About Taichung International Airport
Taichung International Airport, also known as Ching Chuang Kang Airport, is the main air gateway for Taichung City and central Taiwan. Opened to civil aviation in 2004, the airport shares its site with Ching Chuang Kang Air Base and operates as a joint civil-military facility.
Located in Shalu District, approximately 14 km northwest of central Taichung, the airport handles domestic and international flights through two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is used mainly for domestic services, while Terminal 2 serves international routes.
The airport is connected to Taichung by public buses, taxis, private transfers and road links, making it possible to reach the city centre and surrounding areas within about 30–45 minutes.
