Kars Harakani Airport is the main airport serving Kars and the surrounding eastern Anatolia region. The airport first opened in 1988 with a small terminal, moved into a larger building in 1995, and has operated from its current modern terminal since 2013. It also helps connect nearby provinces such as Ağrı, Ardahan, Artvin and Iğdır.
The airport lies about 6 km south of central Kars and is reached in a short drive by taxi, municipal bus or private transfer. It handles domestic flights and non-scheduled international services from a single three-floor terminal of roughly 35,946 m², with separate domestic and international sections in the same building.
Passenger facilities include a VIP lounge, a CIP lounge, cafés, a restaurant, prayer rooms, baby care rooms and a paid car park. The compact layout keeps arrivals, check-in and security close together, making the airport a convenient entry point for travellers visiting Kars, the Ani archaeological site, Lake Çıldır and the Sarıkamış ski area.
