About Gunsan Airport
Gunsan Airport is a small regional gateway serving Gunsan, North Jeolla Province and the surrounding Saemangeum area on South Korea's west coast. It operates as a joint civil-military airport, with its civil terminal located beside Kunsan Air Base, which is used by the United States Air Force's 8th Fighter Wing.
The current civil airport opened in December 1992 next to the military base. Scheduled operations are domestic, with direct connections to Jeju Island operated by Jin Air and Korean Air. The civil terminal is a compact single-story building with one boarding gate, and passengers walk from the terminal to the aircraft.
The airport is located in Okseo-myeon, about 12 km from central Gunsan. Local buses, taxis, private transfers, rental cars and parking provide onward travel to Gunsan city centre, Gunsan station, the bus terminal and nearby cities such as Iksan and Jeonju.
Despite its small size, the airport plays an important role in linking this coastal region with Jeju and the rest of South Korea's domestic air network.
