About Eskişehir Air Base

Eskişehir Air Base (ESK, ICAO: LTBI) is an active Turkish Air Force installation in Eskişehir, in Turkey’s Central Anatolia region. The base is home to the 1st Main Jet Base Command (Ana Jet Üs) of the 1st Air Force Command, and Eskişehir has long been an important centre of Turkish military aviation.

The airfield has a single asphalt runway of about 3,050 metres (10,000 ft) and mainly supports military operations, including fighter and flight-test units. It does not handle scheduled commercial passenger flights, so there are no public passenger terminals, check-in areas or commercial amenities of the kind found at civilian airports.

Located roughly 4 km east of Eskişehir city centre, the base sits close to the city’s road network. Authorised personnel and visitors can reach central Eskişehir by private transfer, taxi or rental car, while the city also has road and high-speed rail connections to Ankara, Istanbul and other parts of Turkey.

For most civilian travellers, Eskişehir is served by Hasan Polatkan Airport (AOE), which handles scheduled flights. Eskişehir Air Base remains an important military facility and part of the city’s long aviation heritage, with districts such as Odunpazarı and the Porsuk River area easy to reach from the airfield.
