About Stralsund–Barth Airport

Stralsund–Barth Airport is a regional airport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania serving the city of Stralsund, the town of Barth and the Baltic Sea coastline between Rostock and Stralsund. The airfield opened in 1936 and, after serving as a military airfield during the Second World War, began handling commercial passenger traffic in 1957.

The airport does not operate scheduled airline services today. Its traffic is based on general aviation, business and charter flights, flight training, gliding, skydiving and sightseeing flights, as well as police and rescue operations. A modernized passenger terminal with an integrated control tower was completed and opened in 2012.

Located about 25 km west of Stralsund and south of Barth, the airport gives road access to the Fischland-Darß and Zingst peninsula, the island of Rügen and other Baltic Sea holiday destinations via the A20 motorway and the B105 and L23 roads. There is no direct rail or scheduled bus link, so travelers usually continue by taxi, private transfer or rental car.

Passenger facilities are compact and include the Air-Pott bistro, parking and taxi services, with car rental available in the nearby Barth area. The airport's main convenience is fast, flexible access for private and charter aviation to one of Germany's popular Baltic coastal holiday regions.
