About Seosan Air Base
Seosan Air Base is a Republic of Korea Air Force installation near Seosan in South Chungcheong Province, on South Korea's west coast. It is operated as a military airfield and serves primarily the 20th Fighter Wing rather than scheduled commercial passenger traffic.
The base opened in the late 1990s and features two parallel concrete runways of about 2,743 metres each. Located in the Hae-mi area roughly 10 km from Seosan city centre, it supports the surrounding west coast region, including nearby Taean and other towns in South Chungcheong Province.
Road connections link the base with Seosan and the surrounding area, with taxis, private transfers and rental cars among the practical options for onward travel. There is no direct rail connection at the airfield.
While proposals to introduce civil aviation have been studied, the base remains a military facility. Travellers in the area should therefore plan onward transport from Seosan or other nearby towns.
