Şanlıurfa GAP Airport is the main airport serving Şanlıurfa and the wider Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey. It opened in 2007 and handles both domestic and international passenger traffic from a single terminal building.
Located about 35 kilometres from the city centre, the airport is a convenient gateway to Şanlıurfa itself as well as nearby attractions such as Göbekli Tepe, Balıklıgöl, Harran and Halfeti. Most scheduled flights connect Şanlıurfa with Istanbul, Ankara and other domestic cities, while the airport also functions as an international air border gate.
The terminal covers around 12,000 square metres and includes domestic and international departure areas, check-in counters, passport control points and a VIP lounge. A 4,000-metre runway, aircraft apron and cargo building support both passenger and cargo operations.
Ground transportation options include shuttle buses to the city centre, taxis, private transfers and car rental, and the airport offers an open car park for private vehicles. Travellers can continue their journey to the city, hotels, historical sites and surrounding towns by road.
