Ruse Airport, also known as Shtraklevo, is a small general aviation airport serving the city of Ruse and northern Bulgaria. It is located approximately 20 km south of central Ruse, near the village of Shtraklevo, and is identified by the IATA code ROU.
The airport was established in 1967 as a training site for Bulgarian Air Force pilots and later served military and limited passenger aviation. Today it is used mainly by private aircraft and also hosts hail-prevention aircraft, rather than scheduled commercial flights.
A single passenger terminal building has been renovated and preserved as part of ongoing modernization works. The airport has a concrete runway and upgraded lighting, and its facilities are intended to support general aviation operations.
Ruse is connected to the airport by road, with the journey to the city centre normally made by private transfer, taxi or rental car. The city's position on the Danube and near the Romanian border makes the airport a useful entry point for general aviation travelers visiting the region.
