About Bezmer Air Base
Bezmer Air Base is a Bulgarian Air Force military airfield located near the city of Yambol in southeastern Bulgaria. The base traces its origins to the 22nd Fighter Air Regiment, formed in October 1951 and relocated to Bezmer in 1955.
Situated about 10 km west of Yambol and 30 km southeast of Sliven, the base lies between the villages of Bezmer and Bolyarsko in Yambol Province. It operates a concrete runway of around 3,000 metres and has been used for joint and allied military activities alongside Bulgarian Air Force operations.
Bezmer does not function as a commercial passenger airport, and access to the base is restricted. Civilian visitors and authorized travelers typically continue to Yambol, Sliven and other parts of southeastern Bulgaria by pre-arranged road transport.
Its location near the regional road network makes the airfield a practical reference point for journeys across the Yambol region and the surrounding Upper Thracian Lowland.
