Rostock-Laage Airport (RLG)

Rostock-Laage Airport is the main commercial airport serving Rostock and the wider Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region. It acts as a convenient gateway to the Hanseatic city of Rostock, the cruise port of Warnemünde and the resorts of the Baltic Sea coast, supporting both leisure travel and regional business connections.

The airport was originally built in the late 1970s as a military airfield for the National People's Army and became operational in 1984. After being taken over by the Bundeswehr in 1990, civil air traffic began in 1992, and a new passenger terminal was opened on 9 September 2005. The modern single-terminal building is equipped with two jet bridges and has an annual capacity of around one million passengers.

Located approximately 28 km southeast of central Rostock near the A19/A20 motorway junction, the airport is reached mainly by road. Bus line 127 connects the terminal with Rostock's central bus station, while taxis, private transfers and rental cars offer further onward options to the city, the coast and surrounding areas.

Despite its compact size, the airport provides essential passenger services including check-in and security facilities, shops, dining and parking, making it a practical entry point for visitors travelling to northern Germany's Baltic Sea region.
