About Qimei Airport
Qimei Airport is a small domestic airport serving Qimei Island, one of the southern islands in Taiwan's Penghu archipelago. Located in Pinghe Village on the island's western side, it provides an important air link for residents and visitors travelling within Penghu County.
The airport was constructed from 1977 under the Penghu County Government and is now operated by the Civil Aeronautics Administration. It has a compact single passenger terminal and a 783-metre concrete runway, with a newer airport lobby completed in 1994 and the runway renewed in the mid-1990s.
Scheduled domestic flights connect Qimei with Magong, the Penghu county seat, and with Kaohsiung on Taiwan's main island. Because Qimei has no road link to Magong, travellers reach the island by air or ferry and then continue by local transport, scooter or on foot.
Despite its small size, the airport offers a simple and convenient arrival point for visitors exploring Qimei's coastal scenery and landmarks such as the Double Heart Stone Weir, with basic passenger facilities available in the terminal.
