About Müritz Airpark

Müritz Airpark (REB) is a general aviation airfield serving the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. Formerly known as Rechlin–Lärz Airfield, it sits between the villages of Lärz and Rechlin, close to Lake Müritz, Germany's largest inland lake.

The site has a long aviation history: the first airfield facilities were built in 1916–1918 and the airfield was opened in 1918. It later served as a Luftwaffe aircraft testing station from 1933 to 1945 and was then used by Soviet forces until 1993. The airfield reopened for civil aviation in 1994 and was fully privatized in 2011 when the Müritz Airpark group took over operation.

Today the airfield operates a 2,380-metre concrete runway (07/25), approved for aircraft up to 14 tonnes and used for VFR operations. It is the home base of the Müritz Airpark aviation community, where private homes with hangars sit alongside ongoing development that includes a marina and an 18-hole golf course, and sightseeing flights over the lake district are offered.

The airfield lies roughly midway between Berlin and Rostock and about 5 km from Müritz National Park. It is reached by road via the B198 and the A19 motorway, with Röbel, Waren, Mirow and Neustrelitz nearby; onward travel is generally by private transfer, taxi or rental car.
