About Long Thanh International Airport
Long Thanh International Airport is a major new airport under construction in Vietnam, designed to serve Ho Chi Minh City and the wider southern region. It is being developed in phases, with Phase 1 scheduled to begin commercial operations in December 2026.
Located in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, approximately 40 km east of central Ho Chi Minh City, the airport will complement the existing Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Phase 1 includes one runway and one passenger terminal designed for an initial capacity of about 25 million passengers per year.
The passenger terminal is organised around a central area and three wings, with separate arrival and departure levels, and is being built to international five-star standards with a green and smart design. Future phases are planned to expand capacity as demand grows.
The airport will be connected to Ho Chi Minh City by expressway road links, with bus, taxi, private transfer and car rental options, and long-term plans for rail and metro connections. With modern passenger facilities planned, it is expected to become a key gateway for international and domestic travel in southern Vietnam.
