Vung Tau Airport is a small aviation facility serving the coastal city of Vung Tau and Ba Ria–Vung Tau province in southern Vietnam. Originally developed as a military airfield and later opened to civilian use in the 1990s, it now operates mainly as a helicopter base for Vietnam's offshore oil and gas industry.
Located about 2 km from central Vung Tau, the airport has a single 1,800-metre asphalt runway and a compact passenger terminal. It does not handle regular scheduled commercial airline flights; instead, operations focus on helicopter crew changes, charter flights and general aviation.
Travelers can reach the city centre, Front Beach, Back Beach and hotels quickly by taxi or pre-booked private transfer. Because the airport has limited commercial services, most air travelers to Vung Tau arrive via Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and continue by road.
Despite its specialist role, the airport provides practical local aviation connections and basic passenger facilities, making it a convenient entry point for offshore workers and private aviation users traveling to the Vung Tau area.
