Con Dao Airport (VCS)

Con Dao Airport is the main air gateway to Con Son Island and the wider Con Dao archipelago in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, southern Vietnam. Built during the French colonial period, it was upgraded in 2003 and reopened for civilian use in 2004, with the current two-level passenger terminal completed in 2005.

Located in the northeast of Con Son Island, the airport sits roughly 15 km from Con Dao town and serves domestic routes mainly to Ho Chi Minh City, with additional links to Hanoi and Can Tho. Because of its single runway, only smaller aircraft such as ATR72 turboprops can operate here, which keeps capacity limited but arrivals quick and unhurried.

The compact terminal handles check-in, security, arrivals and basic passenger services in one straightforward flow. Passengers can continue into town by taxi, electric car, hotel shuttle or the local electric bus route, with most accommodations around 20–30 minutes away.

Although modest in size, the airport is an essential connection for island residents and travelers visiting the beaches, national park and historical sites of Con Dao. Plans to extend the runway are aimed at allowing larger aircraft in the future, which could expand direct links to the island.
