About Lachin International Airport
Lachin International Airport is an international gateway serving the Lachin district and the wider Karabakh and East Zangezur regions of Azerbaijan. Opened in May 2025, it became the third international airport built in Azerbaijan's liberated territories and the ninth international airport in the country.
The airport is located near the village of Gorchu, about 30 km from the city of Lachin and at an altitude of roughly 1,700 metres, making it the highest-altitude airport in Azerbaijan. Construction began in August 2021, and the airport covers more than 130 hectares in mountainous terrain.
Its infrastructure includes a 3,000-metre-long and 60-metre-wide runway and a 5,000-square-metre terminal with capacity for about 200 passengers per hour. The terminal houses check-in and security systems, baggage conveyors, a VIP lounge, retail outlets and food courts, supported by a fully automated air traffic control tower.
The airport sits 70 km from Shusha and 60 km from Kalbajar, strengthening road connections across the region and supporting tourism, economic and logistics links for travelers arriving by air.
