About Hengchun Airport
Located in Pingtung County, Hengchun Airport is the southernmost civil airport in Taiwan and the closest airport to Kenting National Park. It serves the Hengchun area and the surrounding southern coast as a small regional gateway for domestic travel. Originally a military airfield, the airport was converted for civilian use and opened on January 12, 2004. It operates a single compact terminal with a 1,700-metre runway designed for small and medium aircraft, making it Taiwan's smallest civil airport. The airport sits about 4 km north of Hengchun town centre and can be reached by taxi, private transfer, bus, or rental car. Since scheduled services were suspended in September 2014, the facility mainly handles occasional charter and special flights.
