Dongsha Airport (DSX)

Dongsha Airport is a small, restricted airfield on Pratas Island, a remote coral atoll in the South China Sea administered as part of Cijin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It primarily supports Taiwan's Coast Guard, military and marine research operations rather than general public travel.

The airport has a single concrete runway (11/29) of about 1,550 meters and a basic terminal. UNI Air operates a weekly flight from Kaohsiung, typically on Thursdays, carrying authorized Coast Guard Administration staff, researchers and limited cargo on ATR 72-600 aircraft. The island has no refueling facilities, so flights must carry enough fuel for the return journey.

Located roughly 444 kilometers southwest of Kaohsiung, the airport serves the Dongsha Atoll National Park, Taiwan's first marine national park established in January 2007. Access is strictly controlled, and there are no public hotels, restaurants or transport services; visitors arrive only with official authorization.

Because of its strategic and conservation role, the airport functions mainly as a lifeline for personnel and supplies rather than a conventional passenger gateway. Travelers should not plan regular tourist visits, and all movement is coordinated by the responsible authorities.
