Dien Bien Phu Airport is the main domestic airport serving Dien Bien Phu city and the surrounding northwestern highlands of Vietnam. It developed from the former Muong Thanh airfield and reopened in December 2023 after a major upgrade that expanded its runway and passenger terminal.
Located about 4 km from the city centre in Dien Bien Phu, Dien Bien province, the airport supports domestic connections and handles larger aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and A321. Its modernised passenger terminal is designed to serve arrivals and departures on the ground floor, with waiting areas and passenger services on the upper floor.
The airport is reached by a short road transfer from central Dien Bien Phu, with taxis and private transfers providing convenient onward travel to hotels, historical sites and other destinations in the province. Scheduled services connect the city mainly with Hanoi.
