About Can Tho International Airport
Can Tho International Airport is the main airport serving Can Tho and the wider Mekong Delta region in southern Vietnam. Originally built as a military airfield in the 1960s, the airport was redeveloped and inaugurated on 1 January 2011 as a modern international airport with a single passenger terminal.
Located about 8 km northwest of the city centre in Binh Thuy district, the airport has a compact two-floor terminal with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the upper floor. Its straightforward layout and bilingual signage make it one of the easier airports in Vietnam to navigate.
The airport is reached mainly by metered taxi, ride-hailing services such as Grab and pre-arranged hotel transfers, with no public bus connection. In normal traffic, the journey to central Can Tho takes around 15–20 minutes.
Although the airport holds international status, scheduled services are currently domestic and are operated by Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air to destinations such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Con Dao. With basic passenger facilities and a calm atmosphere, it provides a convenient gateway for travellers exploring the Mekong Delta.
