About Battambang Airport
Battambang Airport is a small airport serving Battambang, the capital of Battambang Province in northwestern Cambodia. It was built in the late 1960s and historically handled domestic flights between Battambang and Phnom Penh before operations ceased during the 1970s. Located about 3 km from the city centre, the airport covers a land area of around 128.68 hectares. It later served mainly military purposes until 1991 and reopened for small private aircraft in 2018. Scheduled commercial passenger services are not currently operating, while plans have been announced to upgrade the airfield from 3C to 4C standard with a larger passenger terminal. Most travelers currently reach Battambang by road from Siem Reap or Phnom Penh after flying into those cities. With road links, taxis, private transfers, and the planned terminal upgrade, the airport is positioned as a future gateway for the city and surrounding province.
