About Al Taqaddum Air Base
Al Taqaddum Air Base is a military airfield in Al Anbar Governorate, western Iraq, located near Al Habbaniyah between Fallujah and Ramadi. Originally built by the Royal Air Force in 1952 as a subsidiary Plateau Airfield of nearby RAF Habbaniya, it later served the Iraqi Air Force as Tammuz Air Base.
The base sits on a plateau overlooking the Euphrates River and Lake Habbaniyah, roughly 17 km west of Fallujah, about 25 km east of Ramadi, and approximately 74 km west of Baghdad. It has two runways, the longer of which measures about 4,019 meters, and today hosts the Iraqi Army's 10th Division and the Anbar Operations Command Center.
The facility has a long history as a military hub in Anbar province and was returned to Iraqi control after years of coalition use. Because it is primarily a military installation, public passenger services are limited, and travel is generally arranged through military or charter operations.
Road connections link the base to Fallujah, Ramadi, and the capital, allowing onward travel across central Iraq. Visitors should expect restricted access and should confirm entry or travel arrangements in advance.
