Qayyarah West Airport (RQW)

Qayyarah West Airport is a military airfield in Nineveh Governorate that supports air operations in northern Iraq. Commonly referred to as Q-West, the airfield lies about 20 kilometres west of Qayyarah town, 60 kilometres south of Mosul, and roughly 300 kilometres north of Baghdad.

Built in the late 1970s as one of Iraq's military airfields, it has two main runways, with the longest measuring around 3,500 metres. The airfield was captured by militants in 2014, recaptured by Iraqi forces in July 2016, and later refurbished by coalition engineers to resume air operations as a logistical hub during the Mosul offensive.

The airfield primarily serves military and logistical flights rather than scheduled commercial passenger traffic. It functions as an important aviation and supply point for the Qayyarah area and northern Iraq, with road access connecting it to Qayyarah town, Mosul, and surrounding communities.

Passenger facilities are limited, and most onward travel continues by road. The airfield remains a key operational aviation point for Iraqi forces and regional logistics in Nineveh Governorate.
