Ağrı Ahmed-i Hani Airport (AJI)

Ağrı Ahmed-i Hani Airport serves the city of Ağrı and the wider eastern Anatolia region, connecting this part of Türkiye mainly with domestic destinations such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. Opened to civil traffic in 1997, the airport has become an important air link for a region where road journeys over long distances can be challenging.

Located about 8 km south of the Ağrı city centre, the airport operates from a single passenger terminal. The terminal has been expanded over time to improve capacity and passenger comfort, while the 3,000-metre runway supports scheduled domestic and charter operations.

The airport is reached from Ağrı by municipal bus, with the journey typically taking around 10 minutes depending on traffic, as well as by taxi and private road transport. This short connection makes it relatively convenient to reach hotels and the city centre after arrival.

As a compact regional airport, it offers essential passenger facilities and serves as a practical entry point for visitors travelling to Mount Ararat and the surrounding highland areas.
