About Cape Verde
Cape Verde is an island nation in the central Atlantic, roughly 570 kilometres off the coast of West Africa. Its ten volcanic islands combine African, Portuguese and Brazilian influences, creating a laid-back destination known for warm weather, music and striking island scenery. Cities such as Praia, the capital on Santiago, and Mindelo on São Vicente are the main urban centres. Praia hosts government, business and the nearby UNESCO-listed Cidade Velha, while Mindelo is known for its port, colonial-era streets, live music and carnival. The islands vary widely: Sal and Boa Vista are famous for flat beaches and water sports, Fogo features the active Pico do Fogo volcano, and Santo Antão draws hikers with green valleys and mountain trails. Cape Verdean creole culture, morna music and fresh seafood shape daily life. Cape Verde is growing as a tourism and business destination, particularly around Sal, Boa Vista and Santiago. Events such as Mindelo's carnival and music festivals, along with its stable atmosphere, attract leisure and business travellers year-round. Four international airports, on Sal, Santiago, São Vicente and Boa Vista, plus domestic flights and ferries connect the islands. This network, alongside taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars, makes travel between airports, hotels, beaches and business areas relatively convenient.
