Zigong Fengming Airport (ZKL)

Zigong Fengming Airport is a general aviation airport serving Zigong and the surrounding region in Sichuan Province. Opened in 2017 after construction that began in late 2015, it was the first A1-class general aviation airport approved by Sichuan Province after the central government delegated general aviation airport approval authority to the provincial level.

Located in Chengjia Town, Gongjing District, within the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park, the airport sits roughly 15 km from central Zigong. Its compact complex includes a 1,200-metre runway, an apron with seven B-class aircraft positions, a hangar, a control tower, and a terminal building, supporting flight training, charter operations, drone testing, and low-altitude tourism flights.

In April 2020, the airport received the IATA code ZKL, becoming the first A1-class general aviation airport in Sichuan to obtain an international airport code. It has opened routes to cities including Chengdu and Mianyang, as well as low-altitude sightseeing routes and visual flight corridors toward Chengdu and Leshan.

The airport is reached by road from Zigong and the Gongjing District, with private vehicles, taxis, and pre-arranged transfers providing onward connections. As a general aviation facility, it plays a specialized role in regional aviation and flight activity rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
