About Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport
Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport is the main international airport serving Zhanjiang and the wider western Guangdong region. Opened on 24 March 2022, it replaced the former Zhanjiang Airport in Xiashan and consolidated the area's air services into a modern facility. The airport was renamed Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport in February 2024.
Located in Tangdu Town, Wuchuan, the airport sits roughly 35 km from downtown Zhanjiang and serves as a gateway for the Leizhou Peninsula, western Guangdong and neighbouring areas of eastern Guangxi. It handles domestic and international flights and is designed as a 4E-class trunk airport capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft.
The airport operates from a single terminal building covering about 61,800 square metres, with a two-and-a-half-storey pier layout, 19 boarding bridges and a 3,200-metre runway. Check-in, security, arrivals and baggage claim areas are arranged across the terminal floors, along with shops, dining and passenger facilities.
Airport shuttle buses link the terminal with districts in Zhanjiang such as Chikan and Xiashan, with journeys typically taking around 50 minutes; taxis, private transfers and car rental also provide onward connections to the city and surrounding coastal destinations.
