About Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport
Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport is a domestic civil-military airport serving Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province, north China. Opened to civil aviation in June 2013, it acts as the main air gateway to the city and the surrounding region, including the Chongli ski area that hosted events during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The airport completed a reconstruction and expansion in August 2020. Its facilities now include a 3,000-metre runway, two passenger terminals and 14 aircraft parking stands, with a designed annual passenger capacity of about one million.
Located about 9 km southeast of the city centre, the airport is served by an airport shuttle bus to central Zhangjiakou, city bus routes and taxis. Road links also provide onward connections to Beijing, roughly 180 km away, and to nearby destinations in northern Hebei.
Passenger facilities include airline check-in and baggage services, a lounge, and dining and retail options. The airport's compact layout keeps the passenger journey straightforward, making it a practical starting point for city visits, ski trips to Chongli and travel deeper into Hebei.
