About Yichang Sanxia International Airport
Yichang Sanxia International Airport is the main airport serving Yichang and the surrounding Three Gorges region of Hubei Province. It began operations on December 28, 1996, after replacing the former Yichang Tumengya Airport, and was rebranded as Yichang Sanxia International Airport in April 2024.
Located about 22 km northwest of downtown Yichang, the airport functions as a 4D-level international tourism feeder airport. Its runway was extended to 3,200 meters in 2022, and Terminal 2 opened the same year to handle domestic flights; Terminal 1 serves international flights.
Travelers can reach the city by airport shuttle bus, taxi, private transfer or rental car, with journey times depending on traffic and destination. The airport provides domestic and international connections as well as passenger facilities that make onward travel to Yichang and nearby attractions more convenient.
