Xinzhou Wutaishan Airport is the main air gateway to Xinzhou and Mount Wutai, one of China's most important Buddhist sacred sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opened in December 2015 as a civil-military dual-use regional airport, it serves northern Shanxi Province with domestic passenger routes connecting the area to destinations across China.
Located in Wuweizhuang Village, Hongdao Town, Dingxiang County, the airport lies about 38 kilometres from downtown Xinzhou and around 71 kilometres from the core scenic area of Mount Wutai. The airport is connected to Xinzhou by airport shuttle buses and taxis, and travellers can also reach the nearby Dingxiang Railway Station for onward train services.
