About Xingning Air Base
Xingning Air Base is a military airfield serving the city of Xingning in Meizhou, Guangdong province, China. Built in the 1950s, the airfield entered service in 1958 and has long supported People's Liberation Army Air Force operations in eastern Guangdong.
Between 1979 and the late 1980s the airfield also operated as a joint civil-military airport, with feeder flights linking Xingning and Guangzhou. After Meizhou's Meixian Airport opened in 1987, civilian services moved there and Xingning Air Base returned to its military role.
The airfield sits about 2 km west of central Xingning and has a single asphalt runway. It is not open to regular commercial passenger traffic, and the nearest civilian gateway is Meizhou Meixian Airport, roughly 50 km to the east.
Xingning is positioned as a land transport hub between the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong and neighboring regions. Road and rail links connect the city with Meizhou, Guangzhou and other destinations, making onward travel straightforward even though commercial flights use nearby airports.
