About Xiangyang Liuji Airport
Xiangyang Liuji Airport is the main civil airport serving Xiangyang, a historic city on the Han River in northern Hubei Province. Opened in 1989, it was the first civil airport in mainland China financed by local investment and has grown into an important regional transport hub for the Han River basin.
Located about 18 km from downtown Xiangyang in Xiangzhou District, the airport mainly handles domestic flights to major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu. A temporary aviation port arrangement has also enabled seasonal international services, including routes to Hong Kong, Nha Trang and Bangkok.
The modern Terminal 2 opened in 2017 with a one-and-a-half-level layout, five boarding bridges and dedicated domestic and international areas. The original Terminal 1 has been renovated to support international departure and border procedures.
Travellers can reach the city by airport shuttle bus, local bus routes, taxis or private transfers, with the journey to central Xiangyang typically taking around 40–50 minutes by road. Passenger facilities include shops, restaurants, cafés and a VIP lounge.
