About Sylt Airport
Sylt Airport is the only commercial airport on the North Sea island of Sylt, serving Westerland and the surrounding resort villages. Opened in 1918, it has developed into the island's main air gateway for travelers arriving from mainland Germany and other European destinations.
Located about 2 km east of central Westerland in the Tinnum area, the airport is within easy reach of island resorts such as Kampen, Keitum, Hörnum and List. It handles scheduled and seasonal connections to German cities and selected international routes, supporting both holiday and business travel.
The compact airport has one passenger terminal, Terminal 1, and a separate General Aviation Terminal, Terminal 2, for private flights. Short walking distances, Fast Lane security access, a lounge, restaurant, bicycle rental and luggage storage make the airport convenient for a small island facility.
Passengers can continue by taxi, rental car, bicycle, hotel shuttle or public bus, and Westerland railway station is about 1.5 km away for rail connections to the mainland.
