About Weeze Airport
Weeze Airport serves the Lower Rhine region of North Rhine-Westphalia and sits close to the German–Dutch border near the A57 motorway. Opened as a civil airport in 2003, it was developed on the site of the former RAF Laarbruch military airfield and today handles scheduled and leisure flights, mainly with low-cost carriers.
The airport is located about 70 km north of Düsseldorf, with the Ruhr area and Dutch cities such as Nijmegen also within reach. Its single passenger terminal opened in August 2003 and houses check-in, security, arrivals and passenger facilities in a compact two-level building.
Travellers can continue to nearby towns and cities by shuttle bus, local bus to Weeze railway station, regional trains, taxis, private transfers, rental cars and road links. Connections to Düsseldorf, Duisburg and the surrounding region are available, though journey times vary by route and time of day.
With a straightforward layout, parking, dining and shopping options, the airport is designed for a relatively quick and simple passenger experience and serves as a practical gateway to the Lower Rhine and nearby Netherlands.
