Voinjama Airport (VOI)

Voinjama Airport (IATA: VOI, ICAO: GLVA), also known as Tenebu Airstrip, is a small domestic airport serving Voinjama, the capital of Lofa County in northern Liberia. The airstrip is located near the village of Tenebu, about 10 km south of the town, and mainly handles light aircraft and domestic flights into this remote northern region.

The airport has a single laterite runway of approximately 1,500 metres, oriented 03/21, and operates without air traffic control, runway lighting, refuelling, or firefighting services. Passenger infrastructure is basic, with a compact handling area rather than a full terminal complex.

Ground transportation is limited to local road travel between the airstrip and Voinjama, with the journey by road taking roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on conditions. From Voinjama, travellers can continue overland to other parts of Lofa County and onward toward the rest of Liberia.

As a small regional airstrip, Voinjama Airport mainly supports local and humanitarian movements in a part of Liberia where road access can be slow, particularly during the rainy season. Its role is practical rather than commercial, serving Voinjama and surrounding communities as a modest air link.
