About Buchanan Airport
Buchanan Airport is a small public airport serving Buchanan, the port city and capital of Grand Bassa County on Liberia's Atlantic coast. It functions mainly as a local and general aviation gateway for the city and surrounding areas.
The airport has a single unpaved runway and no large passenger terminal complex, so operations are limited compared with Liberia's main international airport. Scheduled traffic is domestic in nature, with many flights operated as charters or general aviation.
Located about 2–3 km from central Buchanan, the airport is a short drive from the town's hotels, port and business areas. Road connections continue toward the coast and inland, while Monrovia lies roughly 110 km to the northwest.
Facilities at the airfield are minimal, and travelers needing a wider range of services often connect through Roberts International Airport near Monrovia. For arrivals and departures at Buchanan Airport, planning onward transport in advance is recommended.
