About Varrelbusch Airfield
Varrelbusch Airfield is a small general aviation airfield serving Cloppenburg and the wider Oldenburg Münsterland area in Lower Saxony, Germany. It has no scheduled commercial airline service and primarily supports recreational flying, flight training and skydiving.
The airfield originated as a military airfield built from 1938 and opened in 1940. After use during the Second World War and the post-war period, it was reopened for civil aviation in 1956 and is now operated by Luftsportverein Cloppenburg.
Located about 7 km north of Cloppenburg between Cloppenburg and Garrel, the airfield has a single grass runway, 09/27. Access is by road via Werner-Baumbach-Straße, with private transfers, taxis and rental cars the main onward travel options.
With its flying club, powered and glider flight training, and skydiving activities, the airfield functions as a local aviation hub for pilots and visitors in the Cloppenburg region.
