About Tokachi-Obihiro Airport
Tokachi-Obihiro Airport is the main airport serving Obihiro and the wider Tokachi region of eastern Hokkaido. It connects the region with Tokyo Haneda through multiple daily domestic flights and offers limited international service to Cheongju, South Korea.
The current airport opened in March 1981, replacing the former Obihiro Airport, and gained an international-capable terminal extension in 2017. A single passenger terminal building is organized into domestic and international areas, with domestic operations shared by JAL, ANA and AIR DO.
Located about 25 km south of central Obihiro, the airport is reached by airport buses to Obihiro Station and major hotels, taxis and rental cars. The journey to the city centre typically takes around 35 to 40 minutes by road.
The compact terminal offers restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops, a paid lounge and an observation hall, along with car rental counters and onward transport connections, making it a practical gateway for visitors exploring the Tokachi Plain, Tokachigawa Onsen and eastern Hokkaido.
