About the Event
Fuji Rock Festival 2027 marks the 30th anniversary of Japan's largest outdoor music event. It takes place over three days, from Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25, 2027, at Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa-machi, Niigata Prefecture. The festival brings together more than 200 Japanese and international artists across a network of stages set on the ski slopes and in the surrounding forest.
The event began in 1997 at the base of Mount Fuji, which gave it its name, and moved in 1999 to its current mountain home at Naeba. Over three decades it has grown into the country's most famous music gathering, with past headliners including Beck, Björk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead and Coldplay.
The festival is built around several stages. The open-air Green Stage is the main stage, supported by the White Stage, the covered Red Marquee, Field of Heaven and smaller areas such as Gypsy Avalon and the Palace of Wonder. This structure lets visitors move between major headline performances, intimate sets and DJ sessions throughout each day.
Beyond the music, Fuji Rock is known for its outdoor culture. Many attendees camp on site at the Pyramid Garden campsite, while food stalls serve a wide variety of international dishes. The Dragondola gondola carries visitors above the valley for views of the mountains, and areas such as Kids Land offer workshops and play spaces for families.
Sustainability and cleanliness are central to the festival's identity. Fuji Rock has long been recognized for its clean, recycling-focused culture, with volunteers and attendees working together to keep the forest and festival grounds tidy.
Music fans from Japan and overseas attend, from first-time visitors to longtime regulars, including families and campers. Most visitors reach the site by taking the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa Station and then a dedicated shuttle bus, with package tours also departing from cities across Japan.
